Security - Toronto Airport Kiosks Being Investigated

An investigation of suspected credit-card fraud at Toronto's Pearson airport is now concentrating on the security of its 150 self-service check-in kiosks. If true then it would be in the software and IBM is the software provider. IBM could not be reached for comment late yesterday.

Remote Monitoring Service for Point-of-Sale & Kiosks

Announcement by LogMein of new remote access tool for point-of-sale and kiosks. We've taken it for a test drive and seen it in action and it's impressive. LogMein has been around for many years (like gotomypc). Comes in several different feature sets (including personal no-cost version). Thef"Pro" version is $70/year subscription. Airline Check-In : Is CUSS Dead?

Interesting to see whitepaper from one of the major airline check-in vendors exploring the possibility that CUSS is dead. In the whitepaper they examine impact of internet check-in on CUSS. The CUSS initiative does seem to have stalled in the US. The Airport authorities haven't bought into them (no need to and not enough incentive from IATA) and the airlines are not known for being extravagant especially in these days and times of jet fuel.

Tutorial - What is a HSM?

Using debit cards at a self-service terminal means that you'll be sending encypted pin data somewhere to be decoded/transacted. At that server enpoint will sit the HSM which will do that. ATM people know it well. Kiosk people are just beginning to learn about it.

Opinion - exit strategy for DHS

On Tuesday, the Department of Homeland Security unveiled a plan to make meaningful exit controls at airports a reality. The administration is proposing that airlines collect fingerprints from departing aliens. DHS would match the records against prints taken when aliens arrived to find out who hasn’t left on time.

ViVOpay enables contactless payments for kiosk systems

ViVOtech is extending its ViVOpay line of contactless readers into the kiosk market by introducing the ViVOpay Kiosk contactless payment module. The new technology is certified to work with all major contactless payment programs and allow third-party Kiosk host systems to accept contactless payments without requiring lengthy and costly compliance re-certifications.
