A new kiosk system by SeePoint Technology boasts weather preparedness in theevent of extreme heat and cold or the occasional deluge of rain. The all-weather Secure Point Outdoor Kiosk System can withstand temperatures ranging from minus 2 to 115 degrees Fahrenheit with its ruggedized, vandal-resistant construction, according to the company.

"It's our first true outdoor unit," said Jeff Goldstein, SeePoint's VP of sales. The kiosk can be configured with peripherals for applications such as retail, bill-payment, wayfinding, ticketing and restaurant ordering, he said.

SeePoint has "built and sold and shipped" the units to several clients, Goldstein said, including the state of Wisconsin. The Badger State plans to deploy the kiosks as a self-service vehicle emissions test portal, where drivers can measure their vehicle's smog output and receive documentation for passing.

Other features of the kiosk include:

  • 19-inch capacitive touchscreen high-bright LCD with AEGIS antimicrobial coating
  • 14 gauge steel with zinc primer and exterior powder coat
  • Integrated Dell small form factor computer system
  • Secure key lock cabinet with no exposed cables, wires or ports
  • Waterproof speakers
  • Illuminated peripheral and keyboard bay
  • Thermostatically controlled air conditioning and heater
  • Optional remote access locking system
